A bill sponsored by Republicans Sen. Mark Pody R. Lebanon, Rep. Jody Barrett, R Dickson and was suggested to criminalize and harshly punish women who get abortions. Abortion would be considered homicide and make the mother eligible for the death penalty if convicted regardless for reason of terminating the pregnancy.
State Rep. Monty Fritts also supports death penalty for abortion, stating “Murder is murder. I know that's hard for people to hear, and I don't mean to be hard with it. I promise."
